Cold Pressed by Dave Hollinden (Multiple Percussion Solo)

This is a very old recording from my undergraduate years. Cold Pressed by David Hollinden Performed by Eric Scherer "The term "cold pressed" refers to the method of extracting olive oil which results in the most robust and full-bodied flavor. Syncopation, contrasting timbres and rock-influenced style are blended together in music which is vivid, spicy and obsessively persistent." -David Hollind...

Anyone else hear “catching shadows” in this piece?
Oh yeah...no doubt....similar motifs, progressions...totally Trevino!
An amazing piece for sure, but heres a hot take.. This is 2+1 pt.2
You guys play so beautifully together and everything grooves so well and sounds great. I have been working on this piece with a student, we hope to virtually record it together and I have listened to and watched this video many times. It never gets old. Great playing, thank you for sharing it with all of us.
Beautiful piece, beautiful playing, beautiful audio - but what's the story on the video quality? I don't tend to fuss, but this looks like it was shot using the NASA mars rover or something. I watch classical guitarists and other similar things sometimes and it's just simple and elegant. This music and performance deserves the same....
This comment was hilarious, thank you

Just call those things 'byong-byongs," (sheesh)...brilliant!
This is in my top 5 favorite classical peices so I know it well. Your dedication to it is admirable. I hope you follow everything in your life with this passion.
Mallets used?
Always enjoy coming back to your vids Eric. As always you are a great point of reference. Great playing. Miss the good ole days with you buddy! I hope to see you again soon.
Playing this for my recital in Spring 2020. This is a great video to use for some reference! Well done!
Just for personal reference Marking A: 0:41 Marking B: 1:17 2 Measures Before Marking C: 1:44 Marking D: 2:41 Marking E: 3:34 Marking F: 4:15
It's not personal reference anymore, Ryan. The reference is ours. Order has been restored.
das hab ich auch schon gespielt
Just wondering, why did you choose to use so many downstrokes?
Absolute perfection ! Transcends Glass spirit !
Around 1:05 is where I feel like I'm weightless. Well done guys
After playing this myself I feel like it's safe to say that the balance between you two was not as good as it could've been. So much low marimba, not enough of the high marimba, even though that's the part that usually has the melody.
No one cares
Great sound!
Beautiful piece, wonderful performance and superb recording! I want this piece to go on forever.
Probably the best interpretation I've heard! Thanks to Gordon too, modern pieces shoul all be like this! peaceful, calm, interesting themes and harmonies.. LOVE IT
Beautiful performance and sound quality, shawty camera work tbh. Sorry to rag on whoever filmed this but, it's just really shaky and out of focus.
Can you play this on a 4.3 octave marimba
Yes
Great job Eric! Quick question, what mallets were you using in this video?
Killer
Really enjoyed it man..... Also, Flatliners \m/
nobody noticed this is windows to the soul from mystique (i know they used this not the other way around)
It’s a beautiful piece, and you made it sound even better! I would love to play it, does it fit on a 4.3 marimba?
My main man Brant
One is using Burton grip, the other is using Stevens grip. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
and
Your point being
Squad
It’s so weird how the fact that this piece was played on marimbas and not a piano makes it so much more mesmerizing
im trying to play this but i cant get a nice phrasing for the glissed inverted Am chord (at 0:22 and at 0:51) coming out of the leading G#
Good performance.... get a new camera guy tho
This is a good video to just listen and not watch...
This is an amazing performance of Astral Dance. This video was the reason I performed this piece for my senior recital at MSUM 2 years ago. Check out my performance here! ua-cam.com/video/7qeV15zIImA/v-deo.html
who was jock? a friend?
speed this up to 1.25 and it sounds really freaking cool
love it!
I don't know what it is about this piece but its just great. Although it does make it better to have to very capable musicians playing it the interpretation was lovely.
Fantastic
Hey i'm working this piece and i have a question about that octave change in 4:17 after the choral part, in this performance Eric Scherer played an octave bellow what it's written. I´ve seen other players doing the same thing and i just wanted to know if it´s that an option or if it could be just on the edtition of the score... Any help will be very apreciated! :)
God, not only is Ivan Trevino (the composer), amazing at writing good pieces, but their interpretation of the music is so perfect for this piece.
